Saving Our Sanity- 5 Easy Tips

Somedays, I wonder what it was like when I had sanity. ;) It seems so long ago! Below is a guest post from Amanda about saving our sanity! Do you guys use any of these tips?

Being a mom is such a beautiful experience. It is also an emotionally and physically draining one. The responsibilities of a mom are a consistent fixture. As a parent we can become consumed with the needs of our kids that we forget our own needs. Unfortunately this isn’t a position where you can call in sick either. It’s time you start taking care of yourself. By investing in your wellbeing you are giving yourself the opportunity to be the best mom you can be. So reclaim your sanity by utilizing these 5 things on the list.

1.  Book Club

Reading is great for so many reasons. You can unwind from life’s chores and stimulate your brain at the same time. It’s even better if you have company to share in the literature. Why not kill 2 birds with 1 stone by setting up a book club with other moms in your neighborhood. Not only are your children getting socialization, you get some much needed adult time with conversation that involves more than spilled milk and dirty diapers. Talking with fellow moms can help de-stress and give you a positive outlet. A book club can turn into the emotional support group that moms can really benefit from. In addition reading before going to sleep helps promote a good night’s sleep. So read on and get some much-needed rest at the same time.

2.  A Quick Walk Around the Block

Of course being a mom, there seldom seems like there is a perfect time to get some exercise. With that being said, physical activity is something you need. So strap in your little one and push the stroller around the neighborhood a few times. Not only is it good for the little one, it has so many positive implications on your life too. For example, walking promotes heart health, lowers disease risk, and keeps unwanted weight at bay. With so many benefits now is the time to get in on the walking phenomenon.

3.  Quiet Time in the Morning

Having little ones to take care of is an all day job. You’re busy from sun up to sun down. Getting up a little earlier than everyone else gives you a chance to get a moment’s peace. Sure you adore your family, however it’s important that you get a little you time to mentally prepare for the day. Don’t forget about your morning cup of Joe either. Drinking coffee in the morning has many advantages that can help you throughout the day. It gives you energy, helps burn fat, and can make you feel happier overall. That piece of time in the morning is all you need to be ready to take on life head on.

4.  Comfy Clothing

One of the most underrated aspects of being a mom is the repetitive motion and physical activity you endure each and every day. Many people do no realize how physically demanding motherhood is. Cooking 3 meals a day, bathing children, the never-ending cleaning behind your household, it is a tremendous amount of work. All of the movement takes a toll on your body and not in a good way. If you’ve ever noticed that your tired, sore, and achy after a day’s work, you could definitely benefit from items like compression leg sleeves. These compression leg sleeves are beneficial in more ways than one. For example, they alleviate pain by promoting circulation throughout your legs. They also prevent sweat and odors so you won’t notice you are wearing them at all.

5.  Get a Massage

It’s time to test Dad’s babysitting skills by temporarily relieving yourself to get a little TLC. Massages are a phenomenal way for you to dispel stress, so if you can, get one on a regular basis. Massages are said to relieve you of anxiety, digestive disorders, and fibromyalgia to name a few. Less stress mean more fat burning as well, so massage yourself to a smaller size. When Mom is less stressed the whole household benefits
