National Blog Post # 6

Today, I picked “Write a list of 3 things that you’re thankful for/excited about/ or inspired by”. This one shouldn’t be too difficult!

It goes without saying that I am thankful for my family. Ones that are family by blood, marriage or friendship. I figure I can pick and choose on who is in our family. ;)

(2 biological children, 2 members of my adopted family! I’m sure Adam is thrilled he stayed home that day because I totally would have made him pose with us!)

Something I’m excited about is Christmas. I can’t wait to see the girls faces again this year! When I was growing up, we never had presents under the tree until Christmas Eve. Part of that was that I would get SO excited about them that I couldn’t sleep or do anything else. :p The other part- finding all the presents under the tree on Christmas Day is so magical! We’ve started this with the girls too. (I was never a snooper growing up. I didn’t want to spoil the surprise. But presents under other peoples trees floored me. I remember my mother in law catching me laying on my stomach under the tree, trying to blow the tag up to see who it was for. I didn’t want to touch it and my MIL places the tags name down. When I was caught, I told her it was rather gusty in the room…And I was probably 23 at the time?? go me. :p)

Let’s hope for a better family picture this year, ok?

And finally, something that inspires me. I realize I’m probably supposed to pick ONE of the categories and write 3 things, but I don’t always like playing by the rules. I get that from being an only child. ;)

Both my girls and Adam inspire me everyday. Tons of things inspire me on any given day, but I’m going to talk about something recent. I’m sure by now you’ve heard about the violent murders in Connecticut. Obviously a heart wrenching tragedy but within it came some inspiration. First- a teacher who told her students that they were loved in case that was the last thing they heard. Second- one of the victims fathers speaking about his daughter and passing condolences to the family of the murderer. I told Adam that I don’t think I could ever hold myself with that kind of dignity if something happened to our girls.
