I have mentioned over and over my volunteering with Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital. When I first received Jillian’s diagnosis, I was glued to Google, trying to figure out what to do with the information. Add that to not being FROM Ontario and no support from friends that have been there, done that- the wheels started turning.
I brought up an idea with my friend Laura at Holland Bloorview. I wanted to create an outpatient parent support program. I have had parents approach me to talk, feeling quite the same way I did when Jillian was first diagnosed. Thankfully with some staff baking, Parent Talk was born. If you are an outpatient parent with a child with special needs, please join us on February 23rd. Our group will meet on every last Thursday of every month!
