Jillian’s appointment is on Wednesday and from generosity of people (for the most part) I have never met in real life, this is astonishing!! Before Rhea put the auction live yesterday, we had raised $700 in CASH to go towards Jillian’s injections on Wednesday. I keep saying thank you SO many times, and I really can’t say it enough.
Since we DID receive some help from the Bloorview Family Fund, after we finish paying for Jillian’s injections on Wednesday, I will hang onto the remaining balance until our insurance company reaches a conclusion about subsequent injections. If they decide to approve, I will donate the money BACK to the family fund so another family can access it and benefit.
I have teared up so many times in the last few days! Just seeing other people share our story, or Rhea’s auction, I am overwhelmed. I’m working on a longer post to thank everyone individually.
Jillian asked yesterday when she’d be able to walk again. (She had caught a glimpse of her walker…) I responded with “VERY soon since there are so many people who love you!” Lauren, (as much as it bothers her to have Jillian up and getting into her stuff) is also excited and asked if we could try to take Jillian for a walk outside. We haven’t braved outside yet since she was just mastering the walker by the time the last injections wore off.
Thank you ALL for making this happen for Jillian, myself and my family. Adam and I are absolutely speechless by the love and support we have received. I will be sure to take video of Jillian walking and dedicate it all to you. I’m also very thankful that since I’m doing this fight, other families won’t have to. It takes a village to raise a child and I know I can rely on my online village.

I love you, Beastie <3
Cheryl you and Jillian and your entire family are so inspiring. I told someone the other day that I wish I were rich and could just pay for the treatments for her for as long as she needs them, and I KNOW there are so many others who feel the same way.
We give so much money to places so very far away but there are children in need right here in North America that need help too.
But I also believe that through Jillian’s struggle to walk, God is working on something much bigger through her and through you.
I’m so excited! I have my tissues ready to watch the video.
Oh that’s WONDERFUL! Crap, I’m gonna cry now I’m so happy!
So excited to hear that you were able to raise the money to keep her appointment on wedensday. I can’t wait to see the video of her walking again. It is great to know that there are still people out there that are kind and generous. xo
What an inspiring story. It’s so true what Kim said about the focus being on childern if other nations in need then on the childern in need in our own nation. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. I so looking forward to watching the video of Jillian! Please let me know where I can donate and if there is anything else I can do. All the best!
I can’t even begin to imagine what it’s like to be able to tell your child she’ll be able to walk again. I’m so excited for all of you! This is an amazing step for the whole family, but especially for Jillian and for her quality of life.
It’s amazing what everyone came together and did when your insurance company sat back and just stalked our blogs waiting to see what damage control they need to do instead of acting. Yes, Manulife, we see you visiting in our stats. It doesn’t take the story hitting the TV or print media. This story has already touched so many people and we will tell everyone we know what you’ve done to this family.
I am so happy that Jillian will be able to user he legs again and that you won’t have to listen to her struggle or be upset. This battle isn’t over yet. Manulife thinks we will all just fade away, but the reality is that this has to be done every 3 months, so we aren’t going anywhere. Sooner or later someone larger will listen. Someone will take notice and Manulife will have to take notice and do real damage control instead of stalking a blog quietly to see if we “are done yet.”
